NEW YORK DAY FIVE: BREAD AND GRAVESTONES

Day five was a very laid-back affair for me. I finally bowed to mounting pressure from my body and took the day off. I spent it in bed and it was marvellous. It’s very, very hard forcing yourself to spend time in bed when you’re in New York. This is because it is the most amazing city on earth. I did whimper with frustration a few times but really, I knew it was a good thing to do. And I still made it out for amazing lunchtime buckwheat waffles at Waffle and Wolf. Mmmm. Yessss.

So for today I would like to discuss my local bakery.

It is in a shop that sells gravestones.

Yes. You can pop in for a gravestone for your beloved and, while there, pick up a sourdough and a rustic baguette. Bosh. Who needs a bakery?

I looked it up online and read that apparently there have even been occasions on which people have popped in for a couple of cobb rolls and have ended up buying a gravestone while there.

I think that’s all I’m going to say about it. I’m going to just leave you to ponder it for a while.  Here’s a picture by way of evidence.
